Valentine’s Day is a holiday when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts. The holiday has expanded to express affection between relatives and friends. Valentine's Day is the day we show love to our significant others and children. We shower them with flowers, candy, shoes, often times going into debt to prove our love for someone etc. First, love should be shown every day and in every interaction. Also, when was the last time you took time to love on yourself? This is time to be a bit selfish and guess what, it's OKAY! We often times pour out into others, our children, significant others, family members, jobs, friends and we keep pouring until our cup is empty and then we are left depleted and on "E". If you can't move your car without a refueling of gas, how can you expect you to be able to move and function in your full capacity?
Do me a favor. Take a moment to reflect on the last time you poured into you! When was that? We need to realize sometimes it is okay to be selfish. Let's practice Self-Love and Self-Care today as both are equally as important.
Self-love means embracing and cherishing every aspect of your human existence, establishing the fundamental understanding that you are already secure, whole, and splendid. Self-care is about taking an intentional set of actions that help to enhance your sense of self and well-being.
True happiness and fulfillment are a combination of self-love and self-care, and they complement one another. Self-love provides you an opportunity to become your own cheerleader regardless of any shortcomings. While self-care provides us with the ability to strategize and take action to create the positive change, we need to feel like we are growing and maturing.
It's important to make this a regular practice - the key is being consistent. Don't focus on being perfect because that is something none of us can do. However, focus on even if you have a setback, use this time to reflect and do better.
Remember, to LOVE ON YOURSELF TODAY & EVERY DAY! YOU ARE WORTH IT!
